At the early age of 14, KYLE LEDSON, recorded his first EP, “Crooked Mandolin,” of original songs written by Kyle & produced by Nat Keefe from Hot Buttered Rum. Kyle started playing music at age 3 and began writing songs when he was only 8 years old. Kyle sings and plays the mandolin & guitar quite fluently at his young age. His style can be classified as progressive bluegrass. Kyle hopes to fulfill his lifelong dream to become a successful traveling musician someday.
“Crooked Mandolin” is Kyle Ledson's debut 7 track EP. Tracks 1-6 are all original songs written by Kyle. Track #7, “The West Was Burning,” is a Martha Scanlan cover song. The album was recorded at Tiny Telephone Recording in San Francisco. We recorded this EP on analog tape with sound engineer, Jacob Winik. Backing Kyle on the recording was Bryan Horne on standup bass, Erik Yates on banjo and dobro, Zebulon Bowles on fiddle, and Nat Keefe on guitar- all members of the band Hot Buttered Rum. The album also features the heavenly voices of the T Sisters as well as some vocals and amazing guitar playing from Nashville’s Molly Tuttle. Finally, Jeff Ledson (Kyle’s Dad) got to play guitar on a few tracks and joined Kyle for a duet on “The West Was Burning.”
Kyle Ledson would like to personally thank and acknowledge the talented musicians that have influenced his life in music.
